The Power of Silence
Photographed · Edinburgh, Scotland
I made this photograph in Edinburgh, in one of those quiet corners the city keeps to itself.
We work in a world that asks for our attention every waking minute. Real focus — the kind that actually produces something — needs the opposite. It needs quiet.
Most of the ideas I’m proud of didn’t arrive in meetings. They showed up in stillness, when my mind had room to wander and connect things on its own. Technology is a remarkable tool, but it does its best work when I balance it with a little solitude. Silence isn’t disconnection; it’s where I hear my own thinking again.
